RedHead Steering Gears 2879 Steering Box (4-Bolt Cover)

I purchased a Red Head Steering Gear Box approximately 16 months ago, after extensive research and positive feedback on online forums. Despite the product only having a one-year warranty, I decided to trust it, especially since my OEM steering gear box had developed a minor leak at 285 k miles. Alongside replacing the power steering, hoses, all bushings on front suspicion, lower and upper ball joints front shocks and control arm bushings. I opted to install the Red Head steering gear box. However, less than 10,000 miles later, I encountered a significant issue. The steering gear box began leaking at the pitman arm bushing, resulting in noticeable fluid leakage in my driveway. This unexpected and premature failure has left me severely disappointed. I contact customer services and they are a joke. Upon reflection, the limited one-year warranty speaks volumes about the quality and reliability of this product. It's evident that the manufacturer themselves lack confidence in their product's durability. My experience serves as a cautionary tale for potential buyers. While positive reviews may sway your decision, it's crucial to scrutinize the warranty terms offered. In hindsight, the short warranty period should have been a red flag, indicative of the subpar quality of the product. In conclusion, I advise prospective buyers to exercise caution and thoroughly evaluate their options before investing in the Red Head Steering Gear Box. Excellent product. Might want to advise customers they could need the larger mounting bolts if their box has smaller aftermarket hardware.

The product is great like always. Redhead has always made a nice gear box but when gets old, it cost $150.00 to ship the $300.00 core back. Almost isn't worth it.
