Purchase the PPE 128041119 EPC Solenoid Blocker from XDP today. The 2011-2019 Allison 1000 transmission faces a significant issue: low mainline pressure. This problem stems from the transmission's oil pump, which creates mainline pressure. The valve body directs this pressure to the applied pistons, providing clamping force on the clutch packs for quick and complete clamping. However, reduced mainline pressure results in insufficient clamping force, unable to handle the engine's torque. Consequently, slipping clutch packs generate excessive heat, leading to clutch pack material damage.
To modulate line pressure, the stock EPC (electronic pressure control) is employed. During shifts, the transmission control module commands the EPC to adjust mainline pressure. The pressure increases from 80psi to 230psi and then drops back to 80psi after the shift. Unfortunately, at 80psi, the clutch packs cannot withstand the engine's torque. This issue worsens when towing heavy loads or introducing aftermarket upgrades, putting more strain on the clutch packs.
The solution comes in the form of the EPC blocker kit. The kit can be easily installed between the EPC solenoid and the valve body without removing the valve body itself. With a straightforward process of draining the transmission fluid, removing the oil pan, and installing the EPC blocker, the kit ensures that all available mainline pressure, up to 230 psi, consistently reaches the applied pistons and clutch packs.
